Progressive Professional Development

Journey through Journaling In this workshop participants will experience reading various writers from different genres. After exploring varying types and styles of writing participants will pick subject matter that reflects their own experience to write about and share in a healing environment.

Multiculturalism and Diversity This dynamic workshop will explore the many facets of diversity, as well as explore the beauty and strengths of multiculturalism. Participants will discover how understanding the experience of differing groups of people can bring peace, appreciation and inclusion into the classroom, school and community. The workshop provides opportunities for self-reflection and exploration of perceptions and attitudes along with effective techniques for promoting an inclusive environment in the classroom, school, community and workplace.

Coping with Change This introspective workshop prepares participants for both systemic and personal changes by pinpointing the strengths of the group and its members. Participants will develop strategies to achieve professional and personal goals while experiencing a sense of community through several interactive exercises.

Connecting with Youth Through the use of music videos, lectures, guided discussions, vignettes and role- play, participants will learn how to help motivate youth to balance peer group values and ethical values.

Teambuilding This dynamic workshop will explore participants’ personal and professional goals and the elements that support or detract from them. Participants will examine and process issues inside and outside their school environment. The workshop will explore obstacles to a cooperative work environment such as stress, burnout and communication breakdown and then rediscover the spirit and strength of community. Through interactive teambuilding exercises, participants will have the opportunity to explore the benefits of cooperation and collaboration in the school, community and workplace.

Communication This dynamic workshop will examine conflict from its many perspectives including its definition, the situations in which conflicts arise and the factors that cause them, including communication issues. Through this series of workshops participants will learn strategies of identifying, addressing and resolving conflict by using effective communication techniques and mediation and negotiation skills.

Stress Management During this workshop participants will learn various techniques and methodologies to help identify and minimize daily stressors. The workshop focuses on massage therapy, stretching, yoga, aromatherapy, meditation and visualization. Participants will embark on a mini pampering session.
